SEDG Cell – Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Mahavidyalaya

The Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups (SEDG) Cell at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Mahavidyalaya, affiliated with Bundelkhand  University, has been established to ensure that students from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds receive a safe and supportive environment along with equitable access to quality higher education. This initiative aligns with the vision and guidelines of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, formulated by the Government of India.

Objectives of the SEDG Cell

·         Inclusive Education: Ensure fair and inclusive access to education for students from socio-economically disadvantaged groups.

·         Support Mechanisms: Provide scholarships, mentorship, and counseling to address the specific needs of SEDG students.

·         Safe Environment: Create a discrimination-free, secure, and inclusive campus environment.

·         Capacity Building: Conduct skill enhancement programs and capacity-building workshops to empower SEDG students.

·         Compliance with NEP 2020: Implement strategies that align with NEP 2020 to promote equity and accessibility in higher education.

Functions of the SEDG Cell

·         Identify SEDG Students: Maintain a database of students from socio-economically disadvantaged groups to ensure targeted support.

·         Advocacy and Awareness: Conduct awareness programs to sensitize the college community about the challenges faced by SEDGs.

·         Monitoring and Evaluation: Regularly monitor the effectiveness of initiatives and suggest improvements for better outcomes.

·         Collaboration: Partner with government bodies, NGOs, and industry stakeholders to enhance opportunities for SEDG students.
